What you need:
If you are more than 18 years old and want a card for yourself, or are a parent who wants a card for a teenage child, you need to provide your real name (as it will be printed on the card), your address (where your card as well as replacement and renewal cards if needed will be shipped), your birth date and your Social Security Number (so that the card issuer can verify who you are in compliance with banking regulations).
If you are between aged 13 to 17, you just need to provide your real name, your birth date, and of course approval from your parent or guardian.
To load the prepaid card with funds, you will need an existing credit or debit cards, an existing bank account or an employer willing to direct-deposit to the prepaid card, depending on circumstances.
What you don’t need:
You don’t need a bank account. You don’t need a credit record.
